About
Yellow Monkey is a directory and bookmarking service that visually recommends relevant and useful blogs, services or web apps, helping you discover new great stuff -every day- and easily find it later in your bookmarks.
What Yellow does is called “human curation“, a concept explained by Rand Fishkin in his post “The power of the benevolent editor in human curation“. There´s also a very interesting analysis by Elad Gil about “Social content curation as the next big thing” -actually about how Pinterest will “transform the web in 2012“, but you get the point.
As our user base grows and plays with the site (bookmarking, voting and clicking the links) the community will help you discover what they find most interesting from our recommendations.
Think of Stumble Upon (discovering new sites) mixed with Digg (ranking of most relevant links) and Delicious (bookmarking your favorites), but with a visual twist.
What makes Yellow different is the fact that every site on the directory is listed visually through its own banner (we call them Monkeys) created by our design team.
Adding at least 20 new recommendations by weekday, we expect to offer 400 new, fresh discoveries every month.
Coded by @bedomax, Yellow Monkey is designed and edited by @egaroo. You can see more of our daily life in our Flickr and Twitpic galleries or follow us on Tumblr and Twitter.
Enjoy!
